Ingredients
Method
Gather and prepare your ingredients. Bring a pot of water to the boil.
Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the garlic, chilli, oregano, olives and capers and sizzle for a minute, just until fragrant.
Pour in the chopped tomatoes. Bring to a simmer and leave to bubble gently while the pasta cooks, stirring occasionally.
Once the water has reached a rolling boil, add the pasta and cook according to the packet instructions. Drain, reserving a mugful of the starchy cooking water.
Add the borlotti beans, peas and drained mackerel to the sauce. Gently stir everything together, breaking up any large pieces of fish.
Add the cooked pasta with a splash of the cooking water and stir to combine.
Add the rocket and stir until just wilted, then turn off the heat. Loosen with another splash of cooking water if needed.
Divide between bowls and finish with the walnuts and parmesan.

Quick, easy and delicious. Didn't have any peas so grated a courgette into the sauce instead. It worked well.
Excellent easy to prepare & produces a wholesome dish. What’s not to like!
We enjoyed this. Always looking looking for recipes to get more mackerel in my diet! Might sub peas for spinach next time and try a twist of lemon. So quick to whip up after work thank you Doctors Kitchen
Delicious! Absolutely loved it. Had to switch borlotti for cannelloni but that seemed fine. Definitely going to make this regularly ☺️
Nutritious and filling dish. I felt it needed a little something - the pasta to fish ratio was too great so next time I’ll use less pasta and more fish. Probably smoked mackerel and lime or lemon juice for a bit of zing. There will be a next time though so that’s always good. Easy to prepare and quick.
I wanted to love it but felt as one other person said that it was missing something at the end to bring the flavors to life. It was a tad too fishy for me as well, I felt the mackerel overpowered the dish.
Used white anchovies instead of mackerel, and butter beans instead of borlotti, as I had these on hand. Really delicious and enjoyed by all, though some omissions were made for certain family members to accommodate preferences. Also added a little tomato paste for richness- only about 1tsp. Will make again and try mackerel and borlotti next time.
Filling. I used canned salmon, and pinto beans. I also had chickpea pasta. Overall, I was glad my husband ate it. My son said that it was good. I do believe that it "needed something" like lime juice to wake it up. The chickpea pasta seemed to make overwhelmingly "legumy."
Delicious and satiating.
Excellent! I shall cook this on repeat.
A bit salty, but next time I'll rinse the olives and capers
Absolutely delicious - packed full of so many tasty nutritious ingredients.
Simply delicious. Used fresh tomatoes and saved some for lunch. Try it.
facile à réaliser et très gouteux, nous nous sommes régalés. Je referai sûrement.
Actually a heap of flavour! Big fan of this one and will be making it again for sure. I ran out of peas so used frozen broad beans and it was still good, and made my own tomato sauce like Rupy suggested on YouTube
Tasty and used lentil pasta
Insanely delicious and just wow, I didn’t expect it to be so good! Removed olives and peas though but also without them was really yummy
Yummy! Quick, easy and as reluctant fish eaters, we all enjoyed this meal.
