Notes

Notes for parents: Introducing sesame.

Sesame is a common allergen, and tahini is made from ground sesame seeds.

If sesame hasn’t been introduced yet, offer a tiny amount of this hummus the first time (½ teaspoon) and watch for any reaction for the next couple of hours.

Only increase the portion if no reaction occurs.

It’s best to introduce allergens one at a time and early in weaning (around 6 months), ideally when your baby is well and not overtired or unwell.

You can also try mixing a little tahini with breastmilk/formula or yogurt before this recipe to introduce sesame separately first.
